You bet! Looking forward to Part-2 of your essay this week.
Like I've said to you before, I struggle with subverting het characters into gay characters. It's easier for me to just create original characters who are gay or bi. But I slash Baltar/Gaeta because they have wiggle room. Gaeta has been celibate all series and has intense love/hate feelings for Baltar, while Baltar is a sex addict who'll accept any willing partner when he's horny (and he's always horny...)
BSG is grim. No denying it. I can take it seriously (much more so than Lost) because it has a strong ethical and philosophical core. It's mature and thoughtful about its grimness. Critics have called it post-9/11 storytelling. Even though it's set on space ships, the war/political themes in BSG strongly echo our current 21st century issues. So yeah, grim. Though Gaius often brings some much-needed humour to the proceedings.
Ah, I think SPN is the show I keep getting mixed up with Reaper. I've been meaning to check out both some-time. Is there any sample episode you'd recommend as a representitive of SPN at its best? I'm not sure I'm up for another lengthy series at the moment. I like brother relationships, but I don't think I'd be up for slash. The two guys aren't really my flavour of hot. But I'll check it out sometime anyway.
