Oh I really loved that. I did have a moment of hm! when I first heard the song choice, but you had me midway through, and your climaxes--all of them breaking down at the futilty--was really gold. You're right that the lyrical repetition really worked; I'd say that the contrast too between the gentleness of the music and the violence of the show (and also the lyrics: wise up, give up) works for the Wire.
