West Wing: Two Cathedrals

40 minutes of some of the finest television ever? Gotta be.

West Wing: S2 finale. I'm still in shock....

Mrs Landingham died. Life will never be the same.

Jed Bartlet took on God! That was a powerhouse scene. I love the balls of these writers. They'll show their fictional President of America mouthing off and stubbing out his cigarette in the House of God?! I take my hat off to Sorkin and Sheen.

I don't always love the flashback device, but it was used to perfection. Spot on mirroring/blending of past with present.

Toby threw a bomb at his own lifeboat. Toby is soooo the man. 

"Watch this..." And I love that we didn't even need to watch this. We just needed Leo's reaction. Class.

Mrs Landingham died. I may be inconsolable. I might not be able to watch S3 for a while. Damn. Mrs Landingham is a total rockstar. She had to leave us hungry for more. She overtook Toby as my favourite character in that last ep. I didn't think it was possible to kick ass more than Toby Zeigler. I'll miss her forever. What a stunning character!

I wanted to give you a warning because I knew you loved her so much. I hope you are okay. At least her death felt very real and we got to know more about her. Everytime I hear someone mentioned cars and their tow package, I think of her and Charlie's last scene together.

I was in Washington last year for a conference and tried to get to the Cathedral but it was already closed when I got there. Next time!

Her death was very real ("God doesn't make cars crash and you know it"). I loved that when Bartlet's God didn't answer him it was the memory of a human being that told him the right thing to do. I always joked that Mrs Landingham was the real power behind the Presidency. It was amazing to find out that it was true.

But yeah, I'll miss her. I'm gonna take a break from West Wing and watch some more Mad Men. That's a show where I'm not sure I like any of the characters, but somehow it's still totally compelling.
